| Riders: Vinylman, Dookie, Oz, Mike (from San Diego) and his GF Rachel (also from San Diego) MonsterTiki from Corona and his buddy. Ed (Monstertiki) is a rider from Corona who wanted someone to show him Sycamore. He brought along his buddy and Charlie, Dookie and I met them at the shopping center. We went up Farside to Flood Control where Charlie had a boo boo trying to ride up one of the rocks somewhere in the middle of the trail. Nothing bad just a bit of blood on his elbow and some road-rash on his leg. We then went down Roadrunner. Ed hasn't really ridden technical stuff like at Sycamore (he usually rides Santa Rosa Plateu and Fullerton Loop) so I think riding on the rocks was a new experience for him. He opted not to ride the last set of rocks and we continued to McTwist. We continued down the Nettles and then on N. Arroyo. At the rock face at the bottom of mini-Moab, just by coincidence we met up with a buddy of mine from San Diego named Mike and his girlfriend Rachel. Mike is one of the few guys I know who can ride the giant rock face.....he actually drove all the way to Riverside just to ride it today and to hit some of the gap jumps at Dookie's Playground. We all continued on N. Arroyo towards the self-storage then X-Trail to Dookies. We all sessioned the rock on upper Dookies and I actually rolled off it today for the very first time. I was so far back behind the seat my rear- end hit my back tire, but other than that it wasn't as hard as I thought it was. Ed was quickly getting comfortable riding the rocks and in a short time he was cleaning everything rather easily. Then we continued towards lower Dookies and Dookie hit the first little jump and I followed and then Mike hit the gap jump. We stopped to play on the rocks some more. At this point Charlie and Dookie had enough of us "sessioning" and took off to keep their legs moving. The rest of us continued towards Sewage Treatment then on E/W trail in order to ride Terry's Wall. After a brief rest at the Boy Scout Bench we went down Terry's Wall. At the bottom I noticed the shrubs are slowly creating a nice little tunnel.....I hope nobody decides to trim it completely back. We then returned on N. Arroyo in order to ride down Mini-Moab. Ed cleaned the whole thing including O-sh*t rock... At this point Mike and Rachel went their own way and we continued on FenceLine to the Pepper Trees. We then went down Rattlesnake to the Bench Trail and finished on the mini-Luge. total mileage for us was about 16 miles.......with almost zero backtracking.....there was one mechanical (Ed's buddy busted his chain) but that was it.... |
